Dr. Jamie Showers

I am Dr. Jamie Showers.  I grew up near Jefferson City, MO., attended Jefferson City High School and played varsity basketball as a Lady Jay.  My husband, Bobby Showers, and I have two beautiful daughters, Madeline and Ella.  We enjoy spending our weekends supporting local sports and attending MU basketball and football games.  We are also fortunate that our families live local and we are able to spend many weekends visiting them. 

Following high school, I played college basketball and completed two years of undergraduate work at William Woods University located in Fulton, Missouri.  I transferred to the University of Missouri, Columbia, obtained a Bachelor of Science of Nursing and practiced as an RN at both St. Mary’s and Boone Hospital Center.  I graduated Suma Cum Laude and Valedictorian of my class.My nursing experience includes medical, surgical, OR and neonatal intensive care nursing. 

Following several years of nursing, I enrolled at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO, where I earned a bachelor of science in Human Biology and a Doctorate of Chiropractic.  I graduated Suma Cum Laude and was Valedictorian of my graduating class.  My internship experience in chiropractic school included working in the veterans’ hospital treating military veterans and working in an obstetric and gynecology clinic where I treated pregnant women with musculoskeletal problems.

I am board certified in meridian therapy, acupressure and acupuncture.  I received my acupuncture training through Acupuncture Society of America, an affiliate of Logan College of Chiropractic.

Following graduation from Logan College of Chiropractic, I returned to Jefferson City and began my practice as an independent contractor on Stadium Blvd., working closely with Dr. Aimee Jokerst, the former owner of Jokerst Chiropractic Health Center.  I recently took ownership of Dr. Jokerst’s practice, moved it to our new location at 915 Southwest Blvd. Suite H and changed the name to Jokerst-Showers Chiropractic and Acupuncture Clinic.   

My chiropractic experiences and nursing background have allowed me to better understand patient problems and provide unique and effective treatment. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to improve the health and well-being of so many people and I look forward to helping you.

My name is Natalie Smith and I’m the Office Manager at Showers Chiropractic and Acupuncture Clinic.  I grew up in Jefferson City, graduated from Jefferson City High School, and attended Southwest Missouri State University.  I’m happily married and the mother of four beautiful children ranging in ages 8 months to 15 years old.  There is never a dull moment around our house!  In my spare time I love to read and spend time with my family!  I’ve been working in the chiropractic field for six years now.   I’m a certified Chiropractic Technician and Wellness Coach and love working with people!

My name is Abby Hamrick, I am the chiropractic assistant in our clinic.  I grew up in Milan, MO, in northern Missouri, west of Kirksville.  My husband and I relocated to Jefferson City about five years ago.  We have been married just over one year and are expecting our first child in January 2010.  We have enjoyed our time in Jefferson City and are excited about raising our new addition in the capital city.
